Hybrid Commander Build

If I could only have one gun, that could accomplish everything, this one would come really close for me. For range or competition use, would I prefer a government slide over a commander, yes, but this build is still very capable. The rail and capacity really makes it a great nightstand option. The rail does add some weight and bulk, but with the polymer grip, it is pretty manageable as a carry gun. Would it be my first choice to carry all day, every day? No, but that's generally not my reality. The optic also plays into that as well. There are smaller choices and larger choices. This one hits that middle of the road. The window is forgiving enough that you don't have to sit and search for the dot, but not so big that its too bulky.

The machine work is all calculated by hand and machined on a manual mill.  I have a lot of time in the design and execution of the machine work.  The hand cut bevels are the real star of this build.  Many many hours go into cutting the bevels with files, and then sanding out any file marks while maintaining clean and consistent lines through out the gun.

2011 Commander Carry build

This is the ultimate carry build as far as I'm concerned.  So much so, you can see my personal gun included in the pictures.  The only change I added was the micro red dot.  The build features some unique slide machining and hand cut bevel details that I have never seen on another 2011.  The MJD Solutions grip module is fantastic and is lightweight with great functional texture.  I also relieved the magwell portion to accept a shorter "flush" magazine while still maintaining a full size mainspring housing.   Finish is a charcoal DLC.
